This is not so much a rating of service as it is the conditions of this Perkin's Restaurant in St. James, Winnipeg.. The word I use to describe our visit yestreday is embarrassing. I was emabarrassed as a Winnipegger to be there. The management hopefully will share in this embarrassment and quickly remedy the situation. Upon walking in the front door, the first thing I noticed was the smell....whatever it was, it was not pleasant, and had nothing to do with food. It was more resembling uncleanliness. It was not a welcoming experience. I then noticed the general uncleanliness. Window ledges, shelves, baseboards, the floor - dirty, discustingly dirty. Are they ever cleaned? The walls are marked, stained, and show greasy fingerprints. The fabric on the backs of the booths are old, darkened, and look as if they are totally grease-stained, and are begging to be replaced. The vinyl on the seats of the booths are shredded and tattered, begging the same. The table tops are worn and give the appearance of being unclean. The staff, dressed in all black, except for one server who appeared to still be in her street clothes, appeared disshevelled, unkept and unprofessional. All of this has nothing to do with the food we were served. I cannot see myself or family and friends entering your restaurant again, unless these concerns are attended to. I am not looking for anything out of this complaint other than the pride that comes from being a Winnipegger, and being able to take family, friends, and guests out to dine. Tourist season is upon us. Are you concerned? Portage Avenue delivers you a steady stream of customers all day long. Are you concerned? You are surrounded by a neighbourhood of fine folks who are willing to support their local establishments. Are you concerned? I surely hope so.
My husband and I went there 5 June 07 and we were totally disappointed in our food. The sausages in the 2 biscuits tasted awful(mystery meat)and the shredded hash browns were not hot and crispy as I ordered. My husband's burger tasted bland and looked gray and the bowl of soup could have been swallowed in one gulp. No chips or salad with his burger and this for $8.49.
The restaurant needed updating and a good cleaning. The quality of this franchise or at least this restaurant has pretty well hit bottom and I won't ever be going back.
DANGER...DANGER. Please don't eat there. We eat there September 1,
2011 and all of us got very sick. Go some place that you can trust. I will never go back for even a drink. I am far too scared.
Crappiest restaurant experience ever. left waiting for table for long time, confused manager who knows nothing about customer service. place need a total overall, very poorly run and also smellier washrooms than a gas station
The worst experience ever. The restaurant is falling apart. The carpet was filthy. Servers were rude. Food was cold and awful. When we spoke to the general manager about the cleanliness of the restaurant, he clearly did not want to hear it and basically walked off. He was very rude. We will NEVER go back there. What a waste of money. The place was gross. If you watch Restaurant Impossible, Robert Irvine would have been disgusted.
Dirty and run down. Horrible service and even worse food.
